Did you know that your brain can produce about 23 watts of power? That’s enough electricity to power a lightbulb. Your brain's storage capacity is also considered unlimited. This means that you can virtually learn anything and everything you would like. Your brain is one of the most important organs in your body. It retains information and controls all bodily functions. Here is how you can take care of it:

- Sleep 7 or more hours each night: Sleep is a vital process that lets your body rest and helps you regain energy. It is just as important to survival as food and water. When you don’t get enough sleep during the night, your brain has trouble focusing and communicating. To make sure you are letting your brain and body properly rest, be sure to prioritize sleeping for 7+ hours.

- Eat unprocessed and whole foods: Studies show that the nutrients in the food you eat are stored in your brain for a period of time. Any foods that are chemically made or not grown do not contain all of the nutrients that your body and mind need. Of course, eating processed food once in a while will not harm you; but eating these foods very often might. Prioritize eating foods like fruits, veggies, whole grains, and various types of seeds. These are all very good for brain health and memory.

- Move your body daily: With busy schedules and long days it can be difficult to find time for physical activity. Moving your body helps you think, problem solve, increases memory, and can even reduce the risk of cognitive diseases. Anxiety and depression can also be reduced. Even just going on a walk for 5-10 minutes has benefits. Walking and any type of cardio are very good for the brain and your heart. Finding time throughout your week to move your body will have a major impact on your life. Try it today.

- Challenge your brain: Going to school and maintaining a job are two ways that people use their brain to learn and think. Your brain is a muscle, and if you don’t use it daily it will weaken. Being socially involved with people and focusing on learning new things will continue to grow your brain. Reading books, doing puzzles, and having discussions are great examples.
